I had the brilliant idea to add a product shot of a watch to my portfolio today. Wow. I realize I went into that studio not expecting the fight that I was about to get myself into. Most watch ads these days are created and rendered with a computer and not so much as a single photo is snapped.
Yep watches are cgi green-screen fake all the words we know for not real. I was not about to be deterred from my portfolio piece. I setup a mammoth of a set to capture this time piece. If you know anything about metal you can guess that there are a few reflective surfaces to deal with and various other technical issues like which lights to use and where to put reflectors to fine tune the image.
I went with a constant light source as provided by the profoto Tungsten Air. I made this choice because it is so much easier. I will go into details in later posts but for now enjoy my bts image and the final and tell me what you think!
